Prototypes of a Sensory Island because I believe that the practice and study of sensorial perceptions has the power, to enhance our potential to tap in connection with our bodily sensations more easily.

Through bodily observations the understanding of our inner self has the chance to grow and we may encounter ourselves and others with more compassion, trust and care.

Besides experimenting on an object for the senses I created Sensory Contemplation Cards. A card set that exists of 15 cards paired with five different essential oil blends from homework. The intention of the Sensory Contemplation Cards is to challenge the Western cultural dominance of the visual sense through inviting the users to playfully explore their connection to the other senses as taste, touch, smell and sound. It draws inspiration from the fields of design and art as well as nature itself.

The Cards are situated around the five elements in Chinese philosophy and the qualities they are standing for. It invites for self-reflection on our five senses.

Sensual encounters that remind you of feeling at home. Allow home to manifest in many places.
